Memorial poppiesDelores William went to yesterday’s remembrance day service at Stockwell war memorial, where she met Gary Barnes, who, as a boy from Brixton, was the second black soldier to be a member of the Queen’s ceremonial mounted bodyguard, the Household Cavalry. Today he works in the film industry – he was an assistant director on Honeytrap – and as a mentor at the community centre in Stockwell.
