Libraries war of words continues

Lambeth library campaigners have written once again to Lambeth council responding to accusations from council leader Lib Peck that some of their figures were wrong.

In a letter to Peck, Friends of Lambeth Libraries chair Laura Swaffield appeals for a meeting to discuss the issues, saying that exchanging letters is not a good substitute.

She said that there was “no sign – even now – of even a basic business plan” for four of Lambeth’s ten libraries,  which face closure or conversion to “heathy living centres”.

“Set against this, all you can do is seize on a mistake I made quoting one figure. That looks a bit desperate.

“You, by contrast, seem to have no figures at all.”

Swaffield says that her latest letter is “mind-numbingly long” because “there is a lot of misinformation to cover”.
