Lambeth council to consider draft Brixton plan

Lambeth council has published a draft version of a comprehensive planning document that will shape the future of Brixton town centre.

The Brixton supplementary planning document (SPD) draft will be considered by senior councillors at a cabinet meeting tonight.

If it is approved, Brixton people will be consulted further on the plans.

Earlier drafts of the SPD caused uproar when it proposed the possible demolition of Brixton Recreation Centre in favour of a new facility nearby. The campaign led to Lambeth council leader cllr Lib Peck giving an assurance that the Rec will not be demolished under the masterplan.
