Police appeal for witnesses to Brixton airgun shooting

Police today launched a further appeal for witnesses to an airgun shooting which led to its victim collapsing near a Brixton pub a fortnight ago.

The victim was found seriously injured in front of the Dogstar pub, on the corner of Atlantic Road and Coldharbour Lane, at 3.15am on Monday 9 April. Police believe he was shot in the leg with an air rifle in Somerleyton Road, near Corry Drive, before making his way to Coldharbour Lane to find help.

Two men, aged 31 and 55-years-old have been arrested at a Brixton address in connection with the attack and will appear at Inner London Crown Court on 12 June.

The Dogstar Twitter feed said said the man “stumbled up” and collapsed on the doorstep in the early hours, though the incident had nothing to do with the pub.

The victim was reportedly wearing only tracksuit trousers when he collapsed in the street. He was taken to hospital where he was treated and later discharged.

A police spokesperson asked today: “Were you present at the time and if so did you see anything? Det Const Jenny Courtney  is investigating and is keen for witnesses or anyone with information to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 to report. Alternatively you can email DC Courtney at Jenny.Courtney@met.police.uk.”
